March 2008

It's been another very lax month for the ex-Rays in March. The trials and tribulations of life adult life have meant another month has passed without a single recording session. I'd like to say that this has given me ample time to work on mixing....however I purchased an Apple iPhone and this mere toy has taken over my life. I'm sure there must be a support group for people like myself somewhere in New Zealand.

In between iPhone worship sessions I did find a little bit of time to remix a few things and as always happens, a few changes of bassline here and a little bit of synth there has meant that I've got a whole lot of new ideas for Justin and Aletta to sprinkle their musical pixie dust over.

The only thing worth a bit of mention otherwise is that we finally got a bite from one of the many companies we signed up to for leasing our music for film and television. I'm yet to fully investigate but someone needs music for a TV series in the USA simply described as an "edgy, and provocative new independent drama series..." which could be a good or a bad thing. I'm sure Beverly Hills 90120 was all of these things in 1990, but you've got to be in to win!

February 2008

We've only been officially in existence for about a month now so there's not a lot of news to tell you about. Well, not band news anyway. Sadly my cat Dusky was put to sleep. Very traumatic. Anyway...

A couple of weeks ago Aletta and her other band, Woodview, played a live to air set on the Mike Havoc breakfast show on Auckland University's student radio station 95bFM. It was a bit strange hearing them on the radio for the first time but they did well overall.

We managed to go through the whole of February without having a single recording session for one reason or another. Not a big worry.
